Confucius Say

This month we are thinking about the Guiding Principle of RESPECT. The quote of the week is "do to others as you would have them do to you". This is also known as The Golden Rule. Ever wonder where that saying came from? Confucius!
Confucius was a minor government official in the ancient Chinese province of Lu more than 2,500 years ago. He was also a very wise man who had lots of bold ideas about reform and the way people should act in society. His sayings and advice were so useful that they have been handed down for 25 centuries and are still being used today.
There is a great book by Russell Freedman (a brilliant author who has written about many interesting topics) called Confucius:The Golden Rule. It talks about the life and times of Confucius, many of his incredible "sayings" and is packed with gorgeous art reminiscent of the era.
     It's available in the library!
